For a Good Laugh - Operation Bastión

For a good laugh!

President of Cuba, Raul Castro has decided that President Obama could be planning to invade Cuba. I didn't know the senile old man was also a comedian! Doesn't he know that Obama only kills flies? Not to mention he has a Noble Peace price hanging over his head.

Military training exercises under the name Operation Bastion 2009 started yesterday in the early hours of the morning and will last until tomorrow, Sunday the 29 of November.

Once again, the same old story of the invasion of the United States, that will never happen. With the hunger suffered by the Cuban people, the communist regime should be ashamed of themselves for wasting resources in ridiculous and absurd military exercises.

The identical story of Chavez and Colombia. Any idiot knows that Colombia will not invade Venezuela. The Colombian president is too busy trying to rid his country of the guerrilla fighters, the Castro regime has been training for the past 50 years in an effort to spread communism.

What Cuba needs is freedom. The geriatric regime can fool no one anymore. Operation Bastión is nothing more then a distraction and an desperate effort to control the population with fear-from an enemy that never was.

The New World Order

Something is happening in our country that is different and yet so eerily familiar. Anyone who has lived through communism and other totalitarian regimes will probably understand why I'm saying this.

I look around and I'm wondering if it's already too late........

In his latest movie, Alex Jones explains in great detail the very real possibility of the end of our Republic. It has been censored by at least one social site, so please pass it on, for the future of our children and for this great land-America!

Alex Jones, radio personality from Austin, TX, who is famous for his movie the Obama Deception has released a new movie titled "Fall of the Republic." This is a hard hitting look at the Presidency of Barack Obama and the global elites plan to take over the world under the New World Order.

Freedom For Cuba

Over 50 years, after the communist revolution, that swept away the dreams of millions, Cuba longs for freedom and justice for the dead. We ask all democratic countries for solidarity with the Cuban people and demand respect for human rights.

When a head of state of emissary of a democratic government visits Cuba, they legitimize the communist regime. I say democratic, because of the rest only meritocracy can be expected.

There is no reason for the Castro brothers to continue to hold power, without having paid for the crimes against humanity throughout their reign of terror.

We Demand:

- FREEDOM OF OPINION
- FREEDOM TO ACCES THE INTERNET
- FREEDOM TO TRAVEL IN AND OUT OF CUBA
- FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION
- FREEDOM FOR ALL PRISONERS OF CONSIENSE
- FREEDOM FOR CUBA

Dr. Darsi Ferrer on Hunger Strike

Darsi began a hunger strike today, 13 October 2009, in protest against the arbitrariness of the Cuban government, which has unjustly imprisoned breaking your own laws in the country.

He is accused of abetting the alleged crime of which by its nature falls into the category of summary criminal proceedings, which is equivalent to that should have held the trial in less than 20 days after being charged, given the low hazard of crime and the low level of personal items occupied.

Three months ago that the prosecution was applied as a precautionary measure custody, regardless of the criminal procedure law provides that pretrial detention is only applicable when the offense is alarmed, has high incidence in the territory, or there is suspicion that the defendant intended to evade justice. None of these conditions are satisfied in the case of Darsi.

The defense lawyer urged a change of contract measure Darsi from the 16th of September 2009 and has received no response to date, however, the criminal procedure law clearly specifies that the prosecution has an obligation to respond to proposals measuring changes in a period of 5 days.

The Criminal Procedure Law provides that the pretrial phase of the case of the accused is done in the shortest possible time, and determines a maximum term limit of 60 days for delivery to the Court, extended only in cases very well justified. After 78 days the record still keep him in training Darsi although there is nothing to investigate and it is unknown when they returned to Court for ending of prosecution, which has no justification.

Moreover, his treatment in prison Darsi is discriminatory, which worsened after the newspaper El Nuevo Herald, published its report "Inside the Valle Grande prison, which puts their safety at greater risk within the prison, as the repressive apparatus of state security rather than punish the officials and guards reported for committing serious crimes in jail, to harass control prisoners they relate to Darsi or simply be approached. They have already punished for that reason inmates Eliecer Fuentes, Alejandro Gainza, Delfin Gonzalez and Tamayo Quiala, others are being investigated or have been harassed. Darsi specifically to force him to live in crowded quarters with common prisoners and prisoners to talk with him punished.

When he was arrested, police intervened in the house of an alleged complaint of construction materials illegal precedence. We seized on the false registration, 2 bags of cement, some iron strips and planks torn from the wall and took 2 windows of the hallway inside the house. What is not understood is why did not care about the bag of cement and sand and stone dust we have in since a year ago to public view? Why only 2 windows ripped out and left the other 4 and the door of the house, if all are equal?

The government's intention is very clear, keep Darsi in jail for political reasons, without any concern for the slightest regard for their own laws.

Authorities blamed the government of Cuba for what happen to my husband, Dr. Darsi Ferrer Ramírez, and I ask the international community to help us and demand that once you finish the injustice and arbitrariness that he is suffering .

Greetings and God bless.

Ex President of Honduras Manuel Zelaya During his Era as a Guerrilla

Manuel Zelaya, the ousted ex president of Honduras never thought this picture would ever come back to hunt him.

This is the man, the UN, President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and of course Europe are defending?

Zelaya who has ties to Vice Precident of Bolivia, Alvaro Garcia Linera, a communist and former guerrilla who helped organized and worked in the communist guerrilla Tupac Katari Guerrilla Army. After being caught destroying electrical distribution towers in rural La Paz, he was arrested and charged with insurrection and terrorism.

Judging by the element that reaches positions of power in Latin America is no wonder they are so impoverished and headed for communism.

Numerous Epidemics in Cuba

If all the tourists who are so happy to visit Cuba, had knowledge of the lack of higene Cubans have to live with, they would run, because in Cuba, the soap is no where to be found and the water is disgusting. The Cuban government goes out of it's way to hide it, but Cuba is riddled with epidemics, of Swine Flu, Dengue, Conjunctivitis, and tuberculosis-even leprosy has made a comeback, Leprosy in Cuba.

On her blog Generation Y Yoani writes..... "as the television announcers call on us to strengthen our hygiene before the advance of H1N1. The alert occasioned by the epidemic, however, has not caused the shops to lower the price of cleaning products, not even the cost of simple soap which is the equivalent of the wages for a full day’s work. Instead, the opposite has happened. The collapse in imports has been most notable in those that are used to bathe and disinfect.".

Cuban Hospitals are full to capacity, but doctors are scarce, yet Cuban doctors are raining in
Venezuela, where they have been sent. More doctors, probably will make no difference-with or without doctors, there is no medicine.

Independent Journalist
Carlos Ríos Otero writes.....

" It's alarming, the population of rats, carriers of leptospirosis. In several municipalities plagues of lice have been identified in Elementary and High School level. Homeless dogs wonder the streets." Article in it's entirety, ZOZOBRA EN LA POTENCIA MÉDICA

Cuba faces the Swine Flu pandemic without vaccines. In a normal country, with good nutrition, would make the people more equipped
to survive the disease, but as Otero reports......

"A
Cubans diet is deficient and absent of red meats. The government blatantly lies when it affirms that it guarantees 2700 kilo calories/per cápita".

It is usual to see fecal matter running down the streets of Havana. Otero writes......

"70 % of the pipelines for drinking water is deteriorated. The sewer lines are clogged. The sewer waters are spread throughout the city of Havana and invade the drinking water".

There is no Peace Without Liberty!

Last Sunday Colombian singer Juanes, offered a concert for peace in Revolution Square in Havana, Cuba.

Only Juanes knows what his true
intentions were, but Cuba needs
freedom not peace-they are not at
war and Che's murderous mug being there makes it the biggest
irony of all. For those who keep praising his glory, he ordered
the execution of hundreds of Cubans-prisoners of conscience.
Legal court trials were discarded and fanatical mobs were asked to
decide who lived or die. I for one am ashamed those injustices
were committed in the land where I was born.

It's obvious
by the naive comments before and after the, concet that
people have no idea how the Castro Regime works. Cuban
Americans are free, and have access to information that
the ones that stayed don't.

There is no freedom in Cuba,
and without freedom, there can be no peace. Maybe Juanes meant
well but it will make no difference and today when regular Cubans-not
the communist elite have to face their reality, the after
Juanes is the same as the before Juanes. It's easy for people without
real ties to Cuba to judge us, because you haven't walked a day in
our shoes. Visiting Cuba for fun is not being Cuban. The exiles still
have to live among communists spies and watch the bodies of our
countryman wash ashore on the Florida coast. Many are still
waiting to give our dead a proper burial-someday if we can
find the bodies, we will.

I can assure you that the threats
against Juanes, didn't come from exiles but from the spies among us.
Remember that saying,"Divide and Conquer". Cubans are lively and
impulsive and your face-they are very passionate about a subject they
know to all to well-so a group broke a few records, so what.
Americans burn their flag and badmouth their president, but that's
all-it's called the first amendment-Remember?

San Joaquin Valley Farmers Loose their Water Over Trout

To protect a tiny fish, farmers in the San Joaquin Valley, in Northern California, have been left without water for their crops.

Nancy Pelosi and her Environmental-Marxists Democrats, have blocked all 7 attempts to get the water turned back on. I guess what they say is true , that by their actions you shall know them-Pelosi is a real peace of work.

What in the name of all that is holly, could possibly justify, leaving 38 million people without water.

The area affected by this barbaric federal decision is reaching 40% unemployment, but they don't want a bail out-all they want is their livelihood back. Without water these farmers and their workers have no jobs and no future.

Paul Rodriguez the Comedian turned activist, who's own mother lives in the area affected by Botox Pelosi's work, stated on Fox News, that he voted for Obama, but this was not the change he had hoped for.

Today on Hannity, thousands of residents gather in Huron, California, with one message to President Obama........TURN THE WATER BACK ON!!!

Representative Devin Nunes
from the San Joaquin Vally is one of the people trying to pass legislation to get the water pumping again, but Pelosi and the other democrats continue to vote against it-All but three Democrats Rep. Griffith (D-Alabama), Rep. Kratovil (D-MA), and Rep. Minnick (ID)

Cuban dissident Darsi Ferrer being tortured in jail

Just in from the blog Uncommon Sense..........

Cuban human rights activist Dr. Darsi Ferrer, in jail since July 21 but not formally charged with a crime, is being tortured by the Castro dictatorship, which is refusing him treatment for a painful dental problem, according to a dispatch posted at Miscelaneas de Cuba.

Ferrer reportedly is under investigation for buying cement on the black market to repair his apartment, but Cuban human rights activists have said they believe he is being persecuted because of his work as an independent journalist and other human rights activities.

For a list of 11 reasons why Ferrer is in jail, read this list provided by his wife.

Never Forget the Victims of September Eleven

Most Americans will never forget where they were that frightful morning. I was getting my girls ready, when my mother called me.........The US is being attacked, turn on the news!!, she said.

I watched in horror, the images of people jumping to their death trying to escape a worse death. The first tower collapsed .......The Pentagon was also hit, then United Flight 93 is brought down by passengers to save the White House. Later the second tower crumbled to the ground also.

Throughout all the horror, all I could think about was, "I thought we were safe".

I recalled a conversation my dad had with my mom after the Berlin wall fell. He thought that radical Islam was going to be the next issue for the US and the world. I wish he had been wrong, but he was not........

Chronology of 911

8:45 a.m. (all times are EDT): A hijacked passenger jet, American Airlines Flight 11 out of Boston, Massachusetts, crashes into the north tower of the World Trade Center, tearing a gaping hole in the building and setting it afire. Plane hits WTC.

9:03 a.m.: A second hijacked airliner, United Airlines Flight 175 from Boston, crashes into the south tower of the World Trade Center and explodes. Both buildings are burning.

9:43 a.m.: American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon, sending up a huge plume of smoke. Evacuation begins immediately.

10:10 a.m.: United Airlines Flight 93, also hijacked, crashes in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, southeast of Pittsburgh.

10:28 a.m.: The World Trade Center's north tower collapses from the top down as if it were being peeled apart, releasing a tremendous cloud of debris and smoke. For a complete order of the event of that day visit Chronololy of terror....

Over the years in an effort to be politically correct, the images from that day have been censored in an effort to paint the world as the happy, perfect, peaceful place, that it's not.

Representative Watson, Praises Fidel Castro, his Assassin Che Guevara and Communism

This US Congress woman is actually praising Castro and Che Guevara.

"It was just mentioned to me by our esteemed speaker, “Did anyone say anything about the Cuban health system?”

And lemme tell ya, before you say “Oh, it’s a commu–”, you need to go down there and see what Fidel Castro put in place. And I want you to know, now, you can think whatever you want to about Fidel Castro, but he was one of the brightest leaders I have ever met. [APPLAUSE]

And you know, the Cuban revolution that kicked out the wealthy, Che Guevara did that, and then, after they took over, they went out among the population to find someone who could lead this new nation, and they found…well, just leave it there (laughs), an attorney by the name of Fidel Castro…

We need to vote all the Communists out of office. Lets clean house in 2010. Cubans never thought that it could happen in Cuba, but it did. It can happen anywhere. Wake up America!! Pass this video On!"

The Courage to be Free!

I wanted to share this blog post and video about the Cuban resistance, who now more then ever need the support of the international community and especially the US. Throughout our history Cubans looked to the US for inspiration. It's important for them to know that they have our support and our admiration. Knowing the world is watching gives the resistance the courage to carry on. Visit the blog, Uncommon Sense for more information on the Cuban Resistance movement.
The National Endowment for Democracy has produced this outstanding video about the Cuban democracy movement, focusing on the five activists it honored last month with its Democracy Award.

As the video makes clear, their struggle is the struggle of all free men, and those risking their lives for that freedom.

Filmmaker Brings Back Shocking Tale of Cuban Prisons

Some are held captive in tiny, windowless cells; others are confined in over-crowded and squalid dormitories. Most go without basic health care and food staples; a few undergo regular beatings. All are denied basic religious freedoms, and none has been visited by members of the International Red Cross. Such is life for “enemies of the state” imprisoned in Cuba.

We will excuse you if you think we are writing about terrorist suspects imprisoned at the Guantánamo Bay detention facility. We are not............"Shocking Tale of Cuban Prisons"

Cuba-Social Exclusion

Dr Darsi Ferrer, shown in this video, visits on his own and without any help from the Cuban authorities, communities that live in cardboard boxes and makeshift houses. They are known as concentration camps. They live in deplorable conditions, without clean water, because it is not treated for human consumption. This causes them to contract serious infections, with no end site. Clean water is the most important thing we humans need to survive.

Since this video Dr. Darsi has been arrested for his outspoken criticism of the state of medicine in his country and the treatment of people in communities like this one that live beyond the margin of society.

First you Socialize Medicine........

As our lawmakers get ready to vote on a Health
Reform Bill aimed at socializing medicine-a bill they
have not even taken the time to read, I can't help, but think, that I am loosing my country again.

I don't want the government interfering in my life anymore then it already does. Where is this leading us is obvious with anyone with half a brain. I've been there as have millions of survivors of communist regimes. Socializing medicine is only the beginning.

Karl Marx said, “First you socialize medicine and everything else follows like night follows day.”

There are provisions in the Health Reform Bill there
are disturbing to say the least. I encourage everyone to read the bill and don't take your government's word for it. The rumors that you hear are true, and when a representative says, Oh that's not true! Well....How would they know? They never even read the damn thing! Their mistake was assuming that we not read it either-think again! We are on to you!

Wake up America. It's time to take our country back!

Whats Really in the Health Reform Bill?

I found this information on the Natural News website. It is a list of the different pages in the Health Reform Bill, with a loose translation of what it means to the American people in simple language. God help us

From CMS at FreeRepublic.com:

• Page 16: States that if you have insurance at the time of the bill becoming law and change, you will be required to take a similar plan. If that is not available, you will be required to take the government option!

• Page 22: Mandates audits of all employers that self-insure!

• Page 29: Admission: your health care will be rationed!

• Page 30: A government committee will decide what treatments and benefits you get (and, unlike an insurer, there will be no appeals process)

• Page 42: The "Health Choices Commissioner" will decide health benefits for you. You will have no choice. None.

• Page 50: All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free healthcare services.

• Page 58: Every person will be issued a National ID Healthcard.

• Page 59: The federal government will have direct, real-time access to all individual bank accounts for electronic funds transfer.

• Page 65: Taxpayers will subsidize all union retiree and community organizer health plans (example: SEIU, UAW and ACORN)

• Page 72: All private healthcare plans must conform to government rules to participate in a Healthcare Exchange.

• Page 84: All private healthcare plans must participate in the Healthcare Exchange (i.e., total government control of private plans)

• Page 91: Government mandates linguistic infrastructure for services; translation: illegal aliens

• Page 95: The Government will pay ACORN and Americorps to sign up individuals for Government-run Health Care plan.

• Page 102: Those eligible for Medicaid will be automatically enrolled: you have no choice in the matter.

• Page 124: No company can sue the government for price-fixing. No "judicial review" is permitted against the government monopoly. Put simply, private insurers will be crushed.

• Page 127: The AMA sold doctors out: the government will set wages.

• Page 145: An employer MUST auto-enroll employees into the government-run public plan. No alternatives.

• Page 429: Advance Care Planning Consult will be used to dictate treatment as patient's health deteriorates. This can include an ORDER for end-of-life plans. An ORDER from the
GOVERNMENT.

• Page 430: Government will decide what level of treatments you may have at end-of-life.

• Page 469: Community-based Home Medical Services: more payoffs for ACORN.

• Page 472: Payments to Community-based organizations: more payoffs for ACORN.

• Page 489: Government will cover marriage and family therapy. Government intervenes in your marriage.

• Page 494: Government will cover mental health services: defining, creating and rationing those services.

Cuban Resistance Day

Fifteen years ago, on August 5th, 1994 a spontaneous uprising was born, in Havana, Cuba. The demonstration which took place across from Havana Harbor, was a testament of Cubans desire for freedom.

Today August 5, 2009, all over the world, we remember, "El Día de la Resistencia Cubana" (Cuban Resistance Day). May their wings spread as did those of us who left, but may they do so, with out having to leave.

Amateur video footage of the "Maleconazo" uprising in Havana, Cuba on August 5, 1994. This spontaneous demonstration of the Cuban people's desire for freedom is being remembered around the world on August 5, 2009 as "Cuban Resistance Day."

Letter From Daughter of Prisoner of Conscience Antonio Sanchez

Hello, my name is Yenysel Díaz Sánchez, daughter of Antonio Díaz Sánchez (Tony), a prisoner of conscience in Cuba. My father was imprisoned during the repressive wave known as the Black Spring of Cuba during March 2003. He is one of the original coordinators of the Liberation Christian Movement (Movimiento Cristiano Liberación). Tony, Oswaldo Payá Sardiñas, and Regis Iglesias Ramírez were the individuals responsible for submitting to the Cuban National Assembly the signatures collected as part of the Varela project. This act of courage, which took place in May 2002, gave the Cuban people a glimmer of hope that a peaceful transition to democracy would be possible on the island. As a reward, the Cuban government condemned Tony to 20
years in prison in a facility located more than 700 km from his home.

Eight months ago, Tony was transferred to the Carlos J. Finlay
Military Hospital (located in the city of Havana and less than a mile from his house) for treatment of a case of ulcerative colitis contracted as a consequence of the precarious conditions of his confinement. In the last few months, Cuban State Security officials informed my father that, should he agree to wear the uniform of a common criminal, he'd be transferred to a nearby prison with better living conditions. As my father was unwilling to submit to this blackmail, he was punished by being sent instead to Canaleta
prison in Ciego de Ávila prison (500 km from his home).

The most worrisome aspect of this situation are the deplorable conditions of Tony's confinement. He has been placed in a humid punishment cell with the dimensions of a cage and with a hole for his basic bodily functions. He has a slab for a bed and doesn't get enough light. Tony has no communication with the outside world and is subject to what can be described best as a concentration camp diet--notwithstanding the strict diet prescribed by the doctors. The inhumane nature of Tony's imprisonment is the source of his deteriorating health and chronic pain and discomfort. It is both physical and psychological torture, inflicted on an individual for
attempting to defend his human dignity under the most disadvantageous of circumstances.

It has been 25 days since my father was transferred to Canaleta and his family has received no news of his current status.

The Cuban government has canceled all family visits. We have no idea whether he is dead or alive. I ask all persons of good faith, on my behalf of my ten-year sister Lázara Massiel Díaz Sánchez, to prevent the death of our father in a Cuban dungeon at the hands of persons incapable of respecting the rights of a man that has dedicated his life to the defense of the human rights of an entire nation. Thank you for your consideration.

Her Name Means, "The Voice"

The artist Salvador Dahli used to say that if you didn't take a picture of an event, it would be as if it never happened.

In one instant Neda Soltani became the symbol of the Iranian resistance. Neda was attending a rally with her father Saturday afternoon and was shot in the chest, while talking on her cell phone. The horrific image of her death was filmed with a cell phone that made it to Youtube within minutes.

The grizzly images of Neda's murder are probably the biggest threat the Iranian regime has seen in decades.

I have been watching in aw, the events since the Iranian election and I have to admit that though I have no ties to this country I've felt proud of their courage to stand up for their rights. Perhaps due to my own desire to see the Cubans stand for their rights and stop bowing their heads before a tyrant.

The images coming out of Iran, through any means necessary have been powerful, but none like the image of Neda. This movement brought on by the people's discontent with the election results can be summed up by the image of this beautiful and brave woman who's name interesting enough means "the voice.

May she rest in peace and may her murder not be in vain and her memory stand as a symbol for freedom all over the world.

Demonstration Against the Closure of Globovision in Venezuela

" ALL FOR ONE, AND FREEDOM FOR ALL " JUNE 25th: JOIN US to unmuzzle the world.

1) On June 25th, in as many countries as we can possibly organize, we will protest in front of the respective Venezuelan embassies or consulates, or in front of international organizations connected with the issue of Human Rights.

2)The protest consists of gagging our mouths with red muzzles as a symbol of violations of freedom of expression.

3) During the manifestation a document, rejecting the closure of Globovision and of any media in the world, will be presented

AN UNMUZZLED WORLD JUNE 25th: WORLD WIDE PROTESTS FOR THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Freedom of speech is established as a fundamental human right and in a system of democratic government it ought to be promoted and defended by the government as well as by and the citizenry.

We wish to speak out against the closing of any communication medium in whatever country. Let us join our voices that they may be heard throughout the world. Unmuzzled we speak! In Venezuela freedom of speech and democracy have been in danger for quite some time. The most obvious attack was the closing of RCTV, a television channel that had been operating for 50 years.

Their license was revoked and its equipment stolen outright under the sad excuse that its concession had expired.Once again, Venezuelans are being threatened with the closing of Globovisión, the only 24 hour news channel in the country.

This might happen any moment! There is no valid legal explanation; it is a political fact that the powers-that-be simply want to silence the channel whose opinions are not the same as those of the government. Should the closing of this communication medium materialize, then the only television window left in Venezuela for denouncing human rights violations would be closed off.

We want to raise our voices against the closure of any media anywhere in the world. We want you to be part of this campaign and to play a role in this manifestation that shall allow our voices to be heard everywhere without Muzzles!

Remembering the Tiananmen Square Massacre

Twenty years ago, the people of China tired of not having their voices heard, flooded the streets in protest against China's Communist Regime. The response was unthinkable as thousands of brave man and women were murdered without mercy, by the Chinese army.

One lone man stood in front of the tanks, putting his life in danger for the sake of freedom. His identity is not known and he has earned the name of "Tank Man". A symbol of freedom forever immortalized. The photograph was taken by Jeff Widener, a photographer from the Associated Press, from the sixth floor of the Bijing Hotel, at a distance of 800 meters and through a 400 mm lence.

Other famous participants of the event in 1989:
If there is anything to learn from so much bloodshed and injustice is that it showed the world the true face of communism. The "Great Farce", once again showed it's evil nature for the whole world to see.

Woman Eats off the Street in Cuba

Tonight I got a phone call from my mom, to tell me she had ran into this video at the Cuban Forum, Secretos de Cuba.

Words can't begin to describe it. An Afro-Cuban woman is literally eating off the street. After fifty years in power the communist regime can be summed up with this video.

I left Cuba 30 years ago and I can count with the fingers on one hand, how many Cubans of African descend I have met in exile. Most of them stayed behind, for the hope of a better tomorrow, but that day never came, and this so very sad image is in the end, the real legacy of the Communist Revolution!

Dr. Oscar Biscet Nominated for "Principe de Austurias Award", in Spain!

I have just found out from the Blog "Medicina Cubana", that Dr. Biscet who has been in prison for 6 years for speaking out against abortion and human right violations in the Island prison of Cuba, has been nominated for the prestigious "Principe de Asturias Award", in Spain. I have been in tears!! This noble man is believed by many Cubans, I included, to be the perfect candidate for President of a free Cuba.

Prisoner of conscience, Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet a devout Christian who follows the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King and Gandhi has been serving an unjust 25 year prison term with courage and resignation, in his belief that his non violent opposition to the Cuban government is a just cause and his sacrifice is his way of fighting the injustices of the current communist regime.

Just imagine being sent to prison for decades for simply demanding respect to human life.

You can read more about his plight here........

Remembering Our Fallen Heroes

Every last Monday in May we remember our fallen heroes, our soldiers who died in the service of this great Nation.

It has been said, that this noble tradition began unofficially during the Civil War, but was officially proclaimed on May 5th, 1868 by General Juan Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his general order No.11, and was first observed on May 30, 1868, when flowers were placed in the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery.

A day doesn't seem like enough to remember our fallen soldiers, who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom. Lets remember them everyday.

This morning on CNN there was an interview of Brigadier General Loree K. Sutton. She was there to talk about a site called Real Warriors. It is a place on the internet dedicated to returning soldiers suffering from PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. While for the civilians, a war is over, for a soldier who bears the physical and emotional scars of war, the battle rages on for the rest of their lives. This site has lots of information and resourses for veterans, including among otheres, articles on the signs of Combat Stress, reintegrating into civilian life, medical information, phone numbers for suicide prevention hotline, and a Live Chat.

Cuban Independence From Spain, 107 Years Ago

Cuba's independence turns 107 and though our history made a turn for the worse 50 years ago. We must never forget the brave heroes of that noble war.

"I read in a 1896 book written here in America..... The most glowing pages of history are those that record the proud achievements of patriots and heroes to gain national liberty and independence. Sparta had her Thermopylae. Scotland had her Bannockburn and immortal Bruce. America had her Revolution, her bunker Hill and Yorktown. Cuba has her patriot army, resolved that her fertile plains shall no longer be trampled under the hell of Spanish Tyranny, and the warm sea that lave her rocky shore shall sing the anthem of the free".

On the preface of the book the author wrote.... The eyes of the whole world are turned toward Cuba, eagerly watching her Great Struggle for Freedom.

Today one of our own or I should say a family, keeps the Cuban people enslaved, with no end in site.
