Orlando Zapata Tamayo, Cuban Political Prisoner is Sufering from Pneumonia

Reina Luisa Tamayo today told Radio Martí that her son, the political prisoner Orlando Zapata Tamayo, is suffering from pneumonia, but that she doesn't know his exact condition because the authorities will not let her see him.

Doctors told Tamayo that her son, who is suffering the effects of a hunger strike he started Dec. 3, is too sick to receive visitors. He was transferred this week from a hospital in Camagüey to the medical unit at the Combinado del Este prison in Havana.

Tamayo, who has been her son's most forceful advocate, thought she might be able to see him today.

"I felt really bad, because it was my hope to see my son, and it wasn't possible," she said.

Meanwhile, more Cubans are uniting on behalf of Zapata.

'Re-education' officer beats Cuban political prisoner Darsi Ferrer

Radio Marti and the blog Uncommon Sence report that Dr. Darsi Ferrer has been beaten by a re-education officer. Darsi who was sent to prison without a trial for buying cement to repair his home is obviously in prison for his criticism of the communist regime and it's disregards for humans rights.

The political "re-education" officer at the Vallegrande prison recently delivered a beating to Cuban political prisoner Dr. Darsi Ferrer. Such an assault is never warranted, but to make it worse, Ferrer was handcuffed and unable to defend himself when he was assaulted.

Ferrer, a physician and independent journalist, has been in jail since last July. No formal charges have been filed, but he reportedly has been accused of buying some construction materials on the black market in order to make repairs to his residence after it was damaged during a police raid.

No one believes that. What is more likely is that the dictatorship finally decided to clamp down hard on one of its most persistent and effective critics.

The fact that there is a "re-education" officer on Ferrer's case, is further proof that this is a political, not criminal, prosecution.

For a good laugh!

President of Cuba, Raul Castro has decided that President Obama could be planning to invade Cuba. I didn't know the senile old man was also a comedian! Doesn't he know that Obama only kills flies? Not to mention he has a Noble Peace price hanging over his head.

Military training exercises under the name Operation Bastion 2009 started yesterday in the early hours of the morning and will last until tomorrow, Sunday the 29 of November.



Once again, the same old story of the invasion of the United States, that will never happen. With the hunger suffered by the Cuban people, the communist regime should be ashamed of themselves for wasting resources in ridiculous and absurd military exercises.

The identical story of Chavez and Colombia. Any idiot knows that Colombia will not invade Venezuela. The Colombian president is too busy trying to rid his country of the guerrilla fighters, the Castro regime has been training for the past 50 years in an effort to spread communism.

What Cuba needs is freedom. The geriatric regime can fool no one anymore. Operation Bastión is nothing more then a distraction and an desperate effort to control the population with fear-from an enemy that never was.
