Yoani Sanchez Havana's Newest Spain's "El Pais" Press Correspondent in Cuba

According to Penultimos Dias, since the Castro regime refuses to accredit correspondents from Spain's largest daily, El Paisthe newspaper has hired a local journalist already based in Havana.

Her name is Yoani Sanchez.

Kudos to El Pais

Perhaps this will serve as a lesson for all those "journalists" that have jeopardized their integrity to satisfy their dictatorial hosts.

My Tribute to Laura Pollan, a Patriot of Cuba!

I should have posted here when I received the knews of Laura Pollan death, but I felt like the wind was just beat out of me. I know that things like this have been happening in Cuba since the Castro's came to power, but it never stops being shocking. Laura Pollan, president of "The Ladies in White", was one of the most important leaders that the dissidents had and now she is gone and though she lives in our hearts, this sad news is very difficult for us.
She marched for the freedom of Cuba among the blows and shoves of the State sponsored mobs, never bowing her head and even while being injured by the violence, she marched on.
She and other dissidents had reported, being poked with needles by members of these mobs, so the possibility that she was poisoned or infected with a biological agent is very real. The Castro's are well documented on these methods of destroying the opposition in the style of the former Soviet Union!
She was able to accomplish what no one in 5 decades was able to acomplish. The Castro Regime feared her.
Her leadership and her fearless confrontations with the Castro mobs, made us all proud and now she is gone, but not forgotten. Bertha Soler, will now take her place.
Soler said.....___"This is a day of mourning for the Ladies in White and for the opposition in Cuba," as reported by the  Associated Press.
The Ladies in White's message to the government is that they will continue protesting!
Laura Pollan legacy will live on and her name will be published in Cuba's history books. This history is being written as we speak by the Cuban resistance. God be with them!

American Scholar and Blogger Ted Henken is Interrogated by Cuban State Police

The American Scholar and blogger Ted Henken, who was visiting cuba researching the Cuban bloggersphere, was interrogated before his departure, by Cuban State Police at "Jose Marti" Airport in Havana and was warned that he would not be allowed to re-enter the Island.

The heading of his blog called "El Yuma", Henken writes..... Rejecting the derogatory term "Gringos" and the accusatory epithet "Yanquis," Cubans prefer to refer to us, their North American neighbors, as "Yumas." This blog is simply one Yuma's way of sharing his thoughts on all things Cuban, a subject that often generates more heat than light.

Dozens of Mental Patients Died of Starvation and Hypothermia in a Havana Hospital

These images licked to the internet, paint a gruesome picture of what is the Cuban experience. You would expect to see images like these in the Jewish holocaust archives, but this is not Nazi Germany, this is Cuba, January 2010.

Dozens of psychiatric patients perished inside the walls of the hospital known as Mazorra in Havana city, Cuba. They died from starvation and hypothermia. The people entrusted to care for them stole the food, blankets and mattresses that were supposed to be used for the patients. The bodies had signs of severe neglect, bruises and torture.

I can remember the fear we all had at the mere mention of this hospital. It is know to the average Cuban as a place of torture used by the Castro Regime to persuade agitators and contra revolutionaries. Opening these doors is opening the gates of hell. Someone in my own family was sent there, just for speaking out against the regime.

Never forget!

Cuban Dissident Guillermo Fariñas, 100 Days on Hunger Strike

While awaiting the liberation of the political prisoners in poor health, Cuban dissident Guillermo Fariñas has now been on hunger strike for over 100 days.

"I have always said that I'm skeptical of what the Cuban authorities will do". Who could blame him-the Cuban Government could care less about the well being of the prisoners. Fariñas thinks that they are just being used as pieces on a chess game.

He has said that he will abandoned the hunger strike if at least a dozen or so of the most ill are freed and a plan is set into motion to free the remaining prisoners. His only regret is not starting the strike when Zapata was still alive.

For a Good Laugh - Operation Bastión

For a good laugh!

President of Cuba, Raul Castro has decided that President Obama could be planning to invade Cuba. I didn't know the senile old man was also a comedian! Doesn't he know that Obama only kills flies? Not to mention he has a Noble Peace price hanging over his head.

Military training exercises under the name Operation Bastion 2009 started yesterday in the early hours of the morning and will last until tomorrow, Sunday the 29 of November.

Once again, the same old story of the invasion of the United States, that will never happen. With the hunger suffered by the Cuban people, the communist regime should be ashamed of themselves for wasting resources in ridiculous and absurd military exercises.

The identical story of Chavez and Colombia. Any idiot knows that Colombia will not invade Venezuela. The Colombian president is too busy trying to rid his country of the guerrilla fighters, the Castro regime has been training for the past 50 years in an effort to spread communism.

What Cuba needs is freedom. The geriatric regime can fool no one anymore. Operation Bastión is nothing more then a distraction and an desperate effort to control the population with fear-from an enemy that never was.

Cuban Guitarrist Ciro Diaz & Photographer Claudio Fuentes Arrested in Cuba

Two men arrested for showing solidarity with prominent Cuban dissident Antunez. I translated this news from the blog: "La Babosa Azul"

Ciro Javier Díaz Penedo, guitarist for the Cuban Band "Porno Para Ricardo", has been arrested in the city of Placetas along with photographer Claudio Fuentes Madan, as they showed solidarity with Jorge Luis García Pérez, know by Antunez, who is president of the dissident group Presidio Politico Cubano "Pedro Luis Boitel".

Antúnez is in very poor health, do to a continued hunger strike, in protest against the abuses without parallel by the facist-communist regime in Cuba. More information will be published as received.

The information was received staight from Havana, at this very moment. Spread this news, as fast as possible, to stop the dictatorship and be able to obtain Ciro and Claudio's unconditional freedom.

We hold Fidel Castro, Raul Castro and a large group of snitches at their command if any harm comes to Claudio and Ciro.

Hollywood's Sick Love Affair with Che Guevara MURDERER!

Ernesto Che Guevara, the Butcher of the Cabaña is a celebrity to the Hollywood elite. While in charge of this hell of a prison, 400 men were executed, their crime, to have the audacity to think different then he did.

Che's hero was China's Mao, who killed 20 million of his countryman.

All together the victims of communism total approximately 60.3 million, but it would appear, that the victims of communism are insignificant to them. The people he would have imprisoned and killed, think he is a hero. They truly are the useful idiots Vladimir Lenin dreamed about.

I'm guessing, I have probably died and gone to hell!!!

Found this video on http://www.veoh.com/videos/ Very informative for people with blind consciences! The rest of us know better!

Cubans Will Dress in Black on January 1st

January first will be the 50th anniversary of the death of freedom for the Cuban People. In 1959, Castro and his bearded Men Marched into Havana and life as we knew was lost.

The ones that stayed, the one that left, we all lost something.

Since in someway we are all in mourning, someone among the Cuban Bloggers came up with the idea of all Cubans dressing in black on the 1st. I don't remember who exactly came up with this idea, so if anyone does, please let me know.

So lets do it! Dress in Black, for the prisoners of conscience, for the ones that were killed, for the rafters, for the mass graves, for an end to the Castro family dictatorship, for what our country lost and for the hope of a better Cuba.

Cubas Healthcare a Model for the Rest of the World?

Cuban Independent Photojournalist Luis Alberto Pacheco Mendoza, took these four disturbing photos, in a Cuban Hospital, giving us a glimpse into the state of Cuba's health care system. This is what Michael Moore didn't show you.

The following short video shows these pictures and others taken by undercover photographers. I take no credit for these photos. I'm just helping give a voice to those who have no voice.

The Bond Which Unites All Cubans

The old Castros have destroyed our Island and scattered us all over the world and though it's true that Cubans are divided by many things, it's also true that we are united by so much more, and the ties to our culture, no tirant will ever destroy. Though our hearts may be broken, we still have among others, our music, to bring us happiness wherever we are in the world.

Other Prisons Have to Close

President Elect Barack Obama talks about closing the prison in Guantanamo bay, but turns a blind eye to the 581 prisons on the other side of the fence of Guantanamo Bay, filled with prisoners of conscience living in subhuman conditions.

As reported by José Ramón Pupo Nieves, Holguín Press / www.cubanet.org) - HOLGUÍN- Independent reporter prisoner of conscience Juan Carlos Herrera Acosta, that a few months back sewed his mouth shut in protest, has denounced the difficult conditions of his life in the provincial prison of Holguín,

According to Carlos, in a section of the prison known as "Viejo Espigón", which measures 10 meters by 6 meters, 56 inmates coexist with just 2 toilets. “This is truly chaotic, during physiological necessities. Other areas of the prison are in similar conditions", said Herrera

He also said that he heard about Barack Obama's plan to close the jail at the Naval Base of Guantánamo. "When will the world open it's eyes and realize, that there are other Guantánamos, that also need to be closed, here in Cuba?, enfazised the prisoner of conscience.

Cuban Revolution Billboards Burned

As reported by (Lamasiel Gutiérrez, Isla Press / www.cubanet.org) – Photo from NuenoAccion.com. A dozen billboards, allegorical to the Revolution, were burned in Zone 11 of Alamar, Havana del Este, Municipality. between the 14, 15 and 16 of December.

Police, delegates of the zone and Committees of Defense of the Revolution, visited house to house each neighbor suspected of the arson, but with no results.

There were urgent meetings called, to test the patriotism of the people in the area and pick up clues, that could lead then to the perpetrator/ors of the sabotages. The meetings concluded with "long live Fidel, the revolution and down with imperialism.

At the end of this information, no suspects had been arrested.

Ah the site of panic by the Castro regimes puppets, just beautiful. Burn baby burn!!!

Communism in Theory

In the early years of the Cuban Revolution, my grandfather's brother, Gomez, was an intellectual communist-In Spanish is called "Communista de Librito" and it meant that he had read "The Communism Manifesto and believed in it. When you read Carl Marx's ideas, they sound great on paper, but time after time, once put into practice his ideas, have been proven impractical and disastrous.

As Gomez saw his neighbors, arrested and the massive firing squads put into full swing, he changed his mind really fast. One day my grandfather was arrested and accused of burning the sugar cane fields. He was lucky that the authorities let him go after three days, but then they went after his land.

The theory of Communism may be summed up in one sentence: "Abolish all private property”. Under the land reform laws (Ley de Reforma Agraria) put in place by Castro's government, each citizen, that owned land, was only allowed to keep a certain amount. My grandfather got lucky, that he had split the land with his sons years before, and so he was allowed to keep part of the farm. Most of the time though, Castro's men would just make it up as they went. Let me point out that Fidel Castro himself, confiscated his own mother's land.

The humble country house (Bohio) where my mother and her siblings were born still stands today and it even survived the hurricanes of the past season. I spend some of the happiest days of my childhood, in that little house in the country.

Communism only brought death and pain to my country of birth. In Russia, Lenin and his Bolsheviks, killed thousands, including the Saar, his wife and their young children. The very word, makes me clinch, but communism keeps spreading. In time it's unmasked and exposed for the abomination it really is, taking with it to many victims.
