The European Union must not Change Policy Toward Cuba, Swedish Foreign Minister Says

(Radio Martí, Cuba) - La ministra de (Radio Martí, Cuba) - The Minister of European Affairs of Sweden, Cecilia Malmström, said in Madrid on Wednesday that Cuba has not made progress to warrant major changes in the EU strategy toward that country.

In an interview with Spanish newspaper ABC, Malmström said that the EU maintains a position against Cuba to be reviewed every six months.

However, the Swedish owner said that his government does not believe that Havana has made the progress it needs, and that he has done would not justify the dramatic changes taking by the European Union.

Malmström, who was for eight years been part the Liberal Party MEP, has recalled her friends that are still in prison, in Cuba, since the Black Spring of 2003.

Sweden takes over next July first to the Czech Republic in the rotating presidency of the European Union.

Estoy de acuerdo en que la comunidad internacional tiene que presionar mas al regimen comunista de los Castro para lograr avances hacia una verdadera democracia en Cuba.
